Our Story
It's almost 7 AM in Brooklyn, NY and everyone and we mean everyone is trying to get on the uptown 4 train before it pulls out of the station. Crown Heights Utica Ave, is a central hub for most commutters. A place where familiar faces are seen and old and new friendships are often rekindled. Without no connection, no mutual friends, Cynthia and Gihan met. A conversation on their way to work turned into friendly check in messages to meeting up once a month for a monthly check in. Over the years a friendship became more that meet ups. But a sisterhood, that transcended over the years.
We began to understand how important, self care as well as embracing our own identities became important on our journey into womanhood. By sharing and explaining the impact of personal experiences we founded a way to cope. That way was through making butters, it's art, self expression and self care wrapped up in a jar.
Our passion for making butters started in our kitchen, realizing how therapeutic this process is. We would constantly share ideas, methods, new scents and even go shopping for oils. It was our way of unwinding while building our friendship. Our sisterhood, created Lulu and Guy. Two women who were influenced by others formed a small line that aims to showcase individuality. Lulu, Gihan's grandmother who raised her is often described as loving, kind and energetic and Guy, enthusiastic, fun and simply the guy next door. Both, whom passed from cancer created a space in another realm for Cynthia and Gihan to meet, giving birth to Lulu and Guy.
